CIO of Cologne Bonn Airport, David Preuss, joins Assaia as COO.

As of July 1st David Preuss, until then CIO of Cologne Bonn Airport, will join Assaia as Chief Operations Officer.

David about joining Assaia

As CIO of an airport, you have contact with many solution providers and different solutions that you need to evaluate and create your application portfolio with to support the business with impactful innovation. It is part of your DNA.

When I first found Assaia’s ApronAI, I was stunned. 12 hours later, I met them in Zurich and we kicked off our joint project in Cologne Bonn Airport CGN just 2 weeks later. From planning to managing delivery and dealing with special requests, I was just blown away by the customer focus that this company was showing.

Now, two years later, I have decided to join Assaia to contribute to an outstanding team with a product that is set to revolutionize the way airports, airlines and other stakeholders look, manage and optimize apron operations.

Max Diez, CEO of Assaia about David joining the team:

In just four short years, Assaia has evolved from a scrappy little startup company to being the world's leading provider of AI-based ground process management software. Today, our products are considered mission-critical by our customers around the world. Going forward, it is our top priority to continue serving our existing and future customers with the same high quality in our products and services, while maintaining our high pace of innovation.

In order to achieve this, we are planning to substantially increase our team size over the next couple of months.

Thanks to the different stages of his career, David is uniquely qualified to lead this growth initiative in our company for two reasons. First, he has successfully built and managed a large, globally-distributed IT organization – and with Assaia being a remote-first company, this experience will be extremely valuable in further scaling our team. Second, as a former airport CIO, he knows exactly what it is that makes an airport software supplier great to work with. David will build Assaia to be the most customer-centric organization in this industry.

From the moment we started working in a customer-supplier relationship, I felt a strong cultural fit between David and our team. We share similar values and the same drive and vision to change the status quo. We could not have found a more qualified and dedicated person to help us bring our company to the next level – in the service of our customers, and in executing against our mission: Enabling airports and airlines to transport the next four billion passengers.

The way Turnaround 2.0 uses AI and machine learning to boost our zone controllers' efficiency is remarkable. They can now manage multiple gate activities with more focus on handling exceptions, rather than multitasking. Turnaround 2.0 is more than a tool for the present; it's a foundation for 'United Next,' growing with us and helping us surpass our operational goals efficiently.

Director of Station Operations, United Airlines

Our focus is to use innovation to make our operations smoother. We have selected Assaia because of the capabilities of the tool. But it is also really important for us that it has a good record of successful implementation, so we know it will deliver for us, for our airlines and ultimately for our passengers.

We are optimizing all our processes on the apron to shorten the time each aircraft needs to be on the ground, which benefits both our passengers and our airline partners. This is a common issue across our airports and we are talking to all of them about this technology.
